Research & Academia

UNICAR agil project brings together 16 universities and companies at ten locations in Germany that conduct interdisciplinary research and development.
Under this project disruptive modular architectures of hardware and software components for driverless vehicle concepts based on the latest results from research into automated and networked driving and electromobility will be developed. With VIRES Simulationstechnologie GmbH and its flexible traffic simulation environment “VIRES Virtual Test Drive” (VTD), UNICAR agil has a strong partner for the development of the external environment model on board.

PEGASUS provides the standards for automated driving.
The PEGASUS joint project stands for project for the establishment of generally accepted quality criteria, tools and methods as well as scenarios and situations for the release of highly-automated driving functions. This project is promoted by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy. VIRES Simulationstechnologie GmbH brings extensive experience in the field of environmental simulation, under real-time conditions, to the PEGASUS project. This includes, in addition to the three-dimensional simulation and visualization of the environment, also the detection using sensor models. Our research work with PEGASUS completed in year 2019.

ENABLE-S3 is industry-driven and aspires to substitute today’s cost-intensive verification & validation efforts by more advanced and efficient methods to pave the way for the commercialization of highly automated cyber physical systems.
Pure simulation cannot cover physics in detail due to its limitations in modelling and computation. Real-world tests are too expensive, too time consuming and potentially dangerous. Thus, ENABLE-S3 aims at developing an innovative solution capable of combining both worlds in an optimized manner and VIRES VTD develops the simulated environmental conditions. Our research work with ENABLE S3 completed in year 2019.
