Applications
Perception

The user wants to perform sensor simulation, stimulation or visualization for cameras, RADARs or LiDARs based on the ground-truth data provided by VTD.

01
MiL
Model in the Loop
Workflow

VTD provides vehicle dynamics, traffic and sensor models. The sensors are modeled to replicate realistic sensor behavior including lens distortion, point clouds and noise patterns.

Use Cases

Sensor positioning and configuration.

Benefits

VTD provides a scalable solution for deterministic real-time and non real-time testing early-on in the development of a perception system.

MiL-v
Model in the Loop (Variant)
Workflow

VTD provides the sensor and traffic models. The simulation provides raw sensor data from which users can extract a list of objects using their own sensor fusion algorithms. This object list is then used by the control algorithm to make its decisions.

The vehicle dynamics is executed on the user’s side and the resulting position is sent back to VTD.

HiL
Hardware in the Loop
Workflow

VTD provides traffic and sensor models. The sensor models provide raw image data, point clouds etc. to the actual ECU hardware using custom protocols. The vehicle dynamics is executed in the real-time HiL system and the resulting position is sent back to VTD.

Use Cases

Sensor verification and validation, final HiL testing for object detection algorithms.

Benefits

VTD operates in co-simulation mode with real-time performance. The HiL implementation is used in later stages of a system’s development cycle.
